Take Back Your Authority

These days, we are learning that we have been deceived at a level that many don’t even realize. How often do you trudge through a day just existing? Not feeling anything, taking curses and insults thrown your way without even batting an eye with no joy or purpose. Numb, exhausted, full of anxiety, and just tuned out to everything around you. You’ve forgotten who you are, dear brothers and sisters! Let’s remind ourselves! 

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Genesis 1:26-27

You were created in God’s image. You also have dominion. God gives all of us freedom through Christ if we choose to believe that He died on the cross for us, and accept that He is God’s Son. You have to accept that authority, and walk in it. Unbelief has deceived man for centuries, and it still does. You must actively choose to put aside everything the world is telling you about how God works, step out into faith, and listen to the still small voice of God through the Holy Spirit. His voice starts out as small, and half of the time you will operate based off of a feeling, but I promise you He gets MUCH louder the more you obey. Don’t try and use logic to explain it away and don’t try and reason away that what He is asking you to do, doesn’t make sense. Just take the first step. 

Let’s look at some promises Christ gives us

Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

John 14:11-14

Christ specifically tells us to believe that He is in the Father, and the Father is in Him. Not only that, He says we will not only do the works that He does, but we will do greater works than Him! He will do what we ask, because it glorifies the Father. Think about that for a minute. We are made in God’s image, we have dominion, and we can do not only the works that Christ did, but greater works. Christians, we have authority, if we only believe! We can heal the sick, and cast out demons, and feed the hungry, and prophesy about what is happening or what is coming. We can walk on water and calm storms. We just have to take that authority that He has given us and do it! Shake off the unbelief and stop submitting to those who are ungodly. 

Something that has occurred to me lately, is that God literally spoke things into existence. John 1 tells us that in the beginning was the Word, and that it was with God and was God. As image bearers of God, that same power lies with us. We can actually see evidence of it in the prophecies that have come to pass, and those that are still coming to pass. Prophets spoke, and God brought it to be. We can also see that the words we speak hold immense power, either to bless or to curse. We now understand why it’s important what we fill our minds with through movies, music, or friends. We can also understand why Jesus taught us that if we hated our brother or lusted after someone, we have already committed murder or adultery in our hearts. Our mouths speak what our heart is full of, and because we are created in God’s image, and have dominion we have the ability to change our reality from one of darkness to one of light.

Satan knows this. Have you stopped to notice why our TV shows and movies have gotten as dark and superficial as they have? Even children’s shows are now full of witchcraft and things depicting hell as being a joke. Movies have gotten so realistic that you almost can’t draw the line between fact or fiction anymore, and it’s the same with video games. Music that used to be uplifting and beautiful, leaves you feeling depressed and angry, and you seek it out because it makes you feel something rather than numbness. The news doesn’t report anything remotely true anymore, and is designed to keep you fearful. Reality shows feature people that are ridiculously shallow. If Satan can control the narrative in your head, he can hold on to the dark reality that he is manipulating that is keeping you asleep. He fears YOU because he knows that YOU have power over him. 

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.  However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

Luke 10:19-20

Wake up sons and daughters of God and take your authority!
